Time and again we hear that one of the very special strengths of The Reading Group is the outstanding qualifications and caring attitudes of our donors and volunteers.


President: Liz Miles
Liz is retired from the University of Illinois as an Enterprise Systems Specialist. She has a degree in Economics from the University of Montana and has lived in the Champaign-Urbana community for 19 years. She has a strong interest in dyslexia and is a firm supporter of our work in this area.

Vice President: Tina Miller
Tina is a data analyst and operations support coordinator at the University of Illinois. She has dyslexia and is a former Reading Group student. She wants to use her experiences to raise awareness of the signs of dyslexia and share resources to help those with dyslexia.

Board Members

Rhonda Fallon
Rhonda has joined the Board of Directors of The Reading Group. Rhonda is the former Fiscal Officer for the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri. Rhonda believes it is important to be a community advocate for students in our community who need services for dyslexia, reading, study skills, and more.

Chad Hoffman
Chad is the Executive Director of the Mahomet Area Youth Club and the former owner of Rogards Office Supply Company.

Sheila Lamb
Sheila has joined the Board of Directors of The Reading Group. Sheila is a Substitute Teacher and has seen first hand the significant improvements The Reading Group has made for students who learn differently. Sheila feels these services are second to none, and not replicated anywhere else in our community.

Kristina Lawhead
Kristina is the Activity Coordinate for Clark-Lindsey. She is a member of Junior League of Champaign-Urbana and she serves as an Advisory Council member for RSVP. An avid reader, Kristina seeks to help others get to the point where reading is attainable and enjoyable.

Brittany Michaels
Brittany is the Deputy Director of the Champaign Public Library. She is a member of Champaign West Rotary and Executive Club of Champaign County. Brittany believes early literacy, in particular, is extremely valuable and significant to personal development and to communities as a whole.

Sarah Walkington
Sarah has training and background in written communication and information science. Her interests involve the provision of both proven and innovative techniques in reading instruction, and the appropriate use of new technologies to that end. She supports The Reading Group’s important contribution to beneficial literacy experiences for children and adults.
